Early in October 2004, Marie-Josée de Quevedo, during one of her trips to Nepal, was requested to build a clinic on a site put at her disposal on a hill top in the rural area of Sita Paila. Back in Geneva, Switzerland, together with friends, they founded Surya assocation drukpa suisse.in March 2005.
Surya association drukpa suisse is a small, voluntary, independent, non-profit humanitarian,
association with no political or religious affiliation.
Its mission is to promote "sustainable development in healthcare. nutrition and education of needy children and adolescents in developing countries." The Centre offers assistance and aid to physically disabled children, focusing on girls, in the most vulnerable communities in Nepal.
